Other information

My mission is to teach reading (decoding sounds and syllables, developing vocabulary, comprehension and fluency) and spelling to students who are challenged in this area. I guide my students through the Wilson Reading System, a research based structured literacy approach which is a gradual, multi sensory skill building experience. I have 30 years of experience being a school principal and teaching, mostly in special education, students with learning and language disabilities, dyslexia, developmental disabilities, autism and attention deficit. My approach is a positive and empathetic one. I build good working relationships with my clients and their families because overcoming dyslexia is an ongoing process. By learning specific strategies, students gain effective and successful reading and spelling skills, and therefore gain self esteem and confidence. Overall, in all of my professional career, the Wilson Reading System has been the most effective in teaching reading.
