Sakina Khan is a Structured Literacy Specialist, trained at the Associate level in the use of Orton-Gillingham therapeutic techniques specially designed for individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia).
With 25 years of being a teacher and over a decade of being an Orton-Gillingham Literacy Specialist, Ms. Khan’s belief in the magic of O.G. keeps getting stronger. Her youngest student being 5 years old and the oldest being 47, she continues to follow her passion for helping people achieve the dreams they once thought were impossible.
Her skills and dedication to work with individuals with diverse needs, unique learning styles, or other underlying conditions such as anxiety, autism, ADD, ADHD or executive function disorder have brought success to many individuals over the years.
While working on one on one, Ms. Khan uses the Orton -Gillingham multisensory approach to help students bridge their learning gaps and master skills in decoding, encoding, writing, and comprehension to acquire grade level fluency or blossom even further. Additionally, she aims to build student’s confidence, self-esteem and helps them create a lifelong love for learning.
