Your child may be using assistive technology at school to support their learning. In most cases, students can have access to the same tools at home in order to complete homework or engage in other tasks.

Action Items
- Ask your child’s teacher about how you can access the same assistive technology from home. You may be able to log into the same apps or programs from a home device. Your child may also be able to bring home a school device (such a school computer, a 1:1 device or assigned SEA equipment) to use to complete work at home.
- Your child should use assistive technology at home the same way it is used at school. Parents can support the use of assistive technology, but should not be the one to teach your child how to use it. Ask the school about tech training for your child at school.
- Ask your child’s teacher when and how assistive technology should be used at home.
- If you have concerns about your child’s assistive technology use, ask your child’s teacher.
